The Poderi Aldo Conterno agricultural company is located in Bussia Soprana, near Monforte d'Alba, the heart of the typical Barolo wine area. The Aldo Conterno family has produced and aged great Piedmont wines for more than five generations. His father, Giacomo, created Barolo “Monfortino” and managed the company in Monforte d’Alba, where Aldo and his brother Giovanni worked side-by-side until the end of the 1970s. In 1969, the two brothers separated their operations: Giovanni stayed in the "paternal" cellars, while Aldo moved to Bussia Soprana - where he set up “Poderi Aldo Conterno” in "Casina Favot". Currently, the company - that makes wine exclusively from its "own-grown" grapes - has about 25 hectares of vineyards, of which almost 50% Nebbiolo-Barolo. |

Presented by Franco Conterno |
Franco Conterno was born September 1, 1965. It might even be said that his "cradle" was a bottle of wine, since the family home was (and still is) above the company premises. It is for this reason that as a boy he spent most of his days in the cellars with his father, progressively discovering the immense fascination of this world. At age 14, however, and unsure of his future, he followed friends rather than "passion" and attended high school in Alba. After two years of studying literature, one fine morning he realized that he loved wine more than Greek and Latin and, a few days later left school to attend the Institute of Oenology in Alba, where he earned his diploma in 1986. He began working in the family company in 1988, looking after sales and public relations. |
